PORT WASTE RECEPTION FACILITIES OPERATION
As per "Regulation for Receiving Wastes from Vessels and Control of Wastes", which was put into effect after being promulgated in the Official Gazette dated 26 December 2004 and numbered 25682, Port Waste Receiving Facilities located in harbor reach receive petroleum and petroleum-derived wastes (bilge water, slag, waste oil, slop) listed in Marine Pollution Convention (MARPOL) 73/78 ANNEX 1 originating in normal operation of vessels, wastewaters listed in MARPOL 73/78 ANNEX IV and garbage wastes listed in MARPOL 73/78 ANNEX V.
Waste receiving services are offered to the vessels approaching to ports and the vessels waiting in anchorage area.
By means of our carrier company licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning (waste oil carrying license and hazardous waste carrying license) and our qualified staff members (holding SRC5 certificate), we are carrying the waste oils collected in our waste receiving facilities to the disposal facilities licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning in order that they are used as additional fuel with a view to making contribution to the domestic economy.
All wastes are stored, recycled and disposed by paying regard to environment and human health in line with the applicable legislation.
Wastewaters gathered in our facilities are passed through the separator, treated in our chemical treatment unit, and finally discharged in compliance with the discharge standard (Table 19) and criteria in respect of mixed industrial wastewaters to the receiving environment as per water pollution control regulations.
Solid wastes gathered in the harbor reach are also transported by our company to Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Regular Solid Waste Storage Area.
